Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of Saint James Lutheran Church unites the body of believers in corporate worship. Participants in music ministry are given the opportunity to use their gifts to glorify God and encourage others through music. This ministry facilitates the building of relationships through participation in musical activities and nurtures the gift of music in all phases of congregational life.

Liturgical Choir

The Liturgical Choir (SATB) assists in worship leadership each Sunday from September through May and at festival and holy day liturgies.  All confirmed members and friends of the congregation are invited to sing with the Liturgical Choir.  Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 8:45 pm in the music gallery of the church.  The choir sings a variety of styles and genres from Gregorian chant to contemporary Christian.

Bell Choir

The St James Bell Choir assists with Sunday and Feast Day worship throughout the program year (September – May).  Rehearsals are held on the stage in the Activity Hall (Gym) each Wednesday evenings from 6:45 – 7:25 pm.  There are 12 primary positions and 3 alternate positions in the choir.

Saint James Festival Choir

The Festival Choir participates in festival liturgies and presents special concerts and musicals during the year.  Made up of members, guests, and friends of the congregation, the choir rehearses as needed to prepare for a particular occasion.  Rehearsals are announced in the monthly newsletter and Sunday bulletin.

Performing Arts Camp

Each summer St. James offers a Performing Arts Camp for children/youth in grades 1 – 8.  Emphasis is placed on vocal technique, dance, drama skills, and confidence in performance. The “campers” prepare a musical for presentation during the concluding Sunday service.   The next PAC is scheduled for June 21 – 25, 2010 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.  The musical will be “Barbeque for Ben”.

Each program year, St. James hosts a concert series that features Christian music.  The 2009-2010 program season is as follows:
